My work ranges from behind-the-scenes advice and counsel, to negotiating and/or litigating for clients in state and federal court. In the courtroom, I’ve won numerous trial verdicts, and have recovered tens of millions of dollars in lost compensation and damages for employees who were wrongfully terminated or mistreated.
I joined Outten & Golden as a partner in 2017, and I lead the firm’s individual practice group in the Washington, D.C. office. I represent many individuals who work in the D.C. metropolitan area, but my practice is national in scope, and my clients live and work throughout the country.
Prior to joining Outten & Golden, I practiced at a Washington D.C. boutique employment law firm for six years where I represented employees in state and federal court. From 1999 to 2011, I ran the Equal Employment Opportunity and Public Accommodations Projects at one of D.C.’s premier civil rights organizations, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights & Urban Affairs, where I represented individuals, classes and institutional clients such as the NAACP, in cases involving discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion and disability.
I began my law career in Washington as a litigation associate at Arnold & Porter LLP, and prior to that, I clerked for the Honorable Barbara B. Crabb, United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Wisconsin.
I honor the trust that clients put in me by bringing dedication, compassion and tenacity to every situation, each and every day.
I employ a highly client-centric approach for each matter, carefully considering all aspects of my client’s life and needs. That has always been my central focus, and it helps me develop and implement strategic decisions that match my clients’ unique set of circumstances.
Usually, my clients want to maximize their economic recovery, but we also focus on protecting their long-term career goals and earning potential, as well as their emotional well-being.
In many cases, I’m helping a client navigate a crisis at work so they can ultimately stay and thrive in their current job. But if litigation becomes necessary, my clients know they can count on me for fierce and steady advocacy.
