My Legal Practice

My practice focuses on cases involving sexual harassment, discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability, as well as retaliation. In addition, many of my employee clients face intersectional discrimination which compounds and complicates their harm.

Justice, finality, and catharsis look different for everyone, so I make sure to center each client’s goals and let that guide our strategy. My clients describe me as both a fierce advocate and an empathetic listener who understands how hard it can be to come forward.

Discrimination, harassment and retaliation aren’t exclusive to any industry. I often work with clients in finance, law, tech, and media, but I’ve helped all kinds of employees who want to stand up for themselves, from restaurant servers and construction workers to high-profile professionals and executives.

What connects them is they are all dealing with job-threatening, traumatic, and life-altering situations, and they need a dedicated advocate to fight for them.

Notable Matters

  • Secured a favorable settlement on behalf of Black woman who worked at a New York state agency and experienced pervasive race and gender discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Secured a favorable settlement for a banking associate who was sexually assaulted by her manager at a work event.
  • Secured a favorable settlement for a Black female law firm associate who was denied promotion to partner.
  • Successfully represented a gay man who was blamed by his supervisor after he reported being sexually assaulted during a work event.
  • Successfully arbitrated the claims represented of multiple female employees of a big box chain who were passed over for promotions in favor of less experienced men.
  • Negotiated a favorable settlement on behalf of a transgender employee who was sexually assaulted by a client then fired after reporting the assault.

My Story

I never accept inequality and bias as normal or necessary.

That sense of fairness and justice comes directly from my parents, both of whom were active in the San Francisco racial justice and women’s rights movements. They raised me to speak out, speak up, and challenge the idea that we should just accept things the way they are.

My career has always centered around civil rights for marginalized populations, including working to exonerate wrongfully-convicted clients at the Innocence Project, representing victims of police misconduct, and advocating for humane medical care in California’s prisons.

I began addressing employment discrimination issues following my judicial clerkships, and I’m enormously proud to be able to advocate for the rights and dignity of working people.
