My work focuses on two distinct but related areas of whistleblower law. The first area is government reward programs administered by federal agencies like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Department of Justice (DOJ) and others. In those cases, I help clients report fraud and work closely with government enforcement officials. My clients who report under these programs are potentially eligible for a financial reward for their whistleblowing.
The second area is helping people who suffer illegal retaliation for reporting bad behavior in the workplace. My experience in these dual aspects of our practice enables me to chart the best path forward for our clients, who are often going through high-stakes and deeply personal career challenges.
It’s an honor to help employees who have the courage to stand up for what’s right. For that reason, I always do my best to listen, ask the right questions, and guide them forward with empathy.
I think the universe was always pulling me toward employment law, and Outten & Golden.
I originally went to college to be a history teacher but found myself strongly attracted to courses in political science, civil liberties and Constitutional rights. By graduation, I had turned my attention to the law.
It was my good fortune to join Outten & Golden in 2014 in an administrative role, which exposed me to employment law and allowed me to observe the firm’s lawyers. Watching the great work of the firm and the assistance it provides to people in some of the most difficult times, I knew law school was my next step. Each semester break at law school I would come back to lend a hand. Then, once I earned my J.D., I became an associate of the firm.
I love the firm’s strong connection to civil liberties and protecting people’s rights. It’s so very rewarding to help people every day – to focus on the living, breathing part of the law that drew me to this career from the beginning.
