National employee-side law firm’s succession plan includes the elevation of Adam T. Klein to Managing Partner and Laurence S. Moy to Deputy Managing Partner and the hiring of Sloane Levy as Chief Operating Officer.

Outten & Golden LLP, a national employee-side law firm with four offices across the U.S., today announced several changes as part of its “O&G 2.0” succession plan.

Adam T. Klein, who founded the firm’s Class & Collective Action practice group, was named Managing Partner effective January 1st.  Mr. Klein concentrates his practice on prosecuting employment discrimination and wage-and-hour claims in the numerous areas.  Since he joined the firm in January 2000, he has obtained substantial recoveries in class and collective actions against the Census Bureau, Smith Barney, Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, MetLife, IBM, and other national employers.  Mr. Klein is a member of the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, and Lawdragon named him one of its 500 Leading Lawyers in the U.S. and recently selected him and 16 other Outten & Golden attorneys to its inaugural list of 500 Leading Plaintiff Employment Lawyers.  Mr. Klein led the litigation team that won the 2017 Public Justice – Trial Lawyer of the Year Award in the landmark Census racial justice litigation and settlement.*

“Outten & Golden has been my home for 19 years, and I am honored to work alongside lawyers who, in my opinion, are among the finest in our profession,” said Mr. Klein. “I have learned tremendously from Wayne Outten and am committed to building on his accomplishments and further growing the firm, while maintaining a steadfast focus on client service, our firm’s mission-based approach, and our inclusive and collaborative culture.”

Mr. Klein takes over the Managing Partner position from Wayne N. Outten, who founded the firm in 1998 with Anne Golden; Mr. Outten will continue actively practicing law.  “Adam’s elevation is part of an orderly transition that we have been planning for some time,” said Mr. Outten.  “It has been my great pleasure and privilege to lead this firm during its first 20 years. We all have the utmost faith and confidence in Adam as he leads us into the next two decades.”

Mr. Outten has assumed the title of Chair.  He remains the co-leader of the Executives & Professionals and Whistleblower Retaliation practice groups and a member of the Executive Committee; and he continues his leadership of the Lawyers International Network for Employees and Executives (LINEE), a worldwide network of law firms that he co-launched in 2013 to meet the growing needs of international executives and other employees.

Partner Laurence S. Moy, co-chair of Outten & Golden’s Financial Services practice group, assumes the role of Deputy Managing Partner. Mr. Moy, who joined the firm in January 2004, has represented individuals in employment matters since 1985.  He has obtained multi-million-dollar awards before the AAA and other arbitration forums, and he has successfully represented employees in state and federal courts.*  In addition to arbitration and litigation, Mr. Moy advises a broad range of clients with respect to discrimination, contractual, and compensation issues, particularly in the financial services industry, and he helps executives and others negotiate severance agreements and employment agreements.  Along with Adam Klein and other Outten & Golden attorneys, Mr. Moy is a Fellow of the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.

Another element of the O&G 2.0 succession plan involves the establishment of a Management Committee in May 2018 and the hiring of Sloane Levy, a lawyer and businessperson, as its first-ever Chief Operating Officer in July 2018.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of this organization and its ongoing evolution,” said Mr. Klein. “While we are grateful for the accolades and recognition we have received, we are prouder still of the team we have assembled and the results we deliver for our clients.*”
