My Legal Practice

My practice centers on representing large groups of people who stand up against corporations for illegal and harmful employment practices.

Many of my cases involve employees who endure workplace discrimination based on their age, gender, race, or past criminal history, or who were denied overtime, while other cases challenge social media companies whose discriminatory practices perpetuate historical age and gender stereotypes.

The best part of my practice is working closely with my clients. Every client faces a different situation, but they are all invested in the change that they’re trying to bring about for themselves, their colleagues, and others.

Some lawyers wake up every day to defend corporations that do harmful things. I get to spend my time working to make people’s lives better and standing up for my clients, no matter what.

Notable Matters

  • Representing a group of sales employees at Loadsmart, Inc., a third-party logistics services company, in a lawsuit alleging the company misclassified them as exempt from overtime requirements and failed to pay proper overtime wages for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
  • Helped secure a $19.9 million settlement for Black financial advisors who accused Merrill Lynch of discrimination in pay and career advancement.
  • Representing plaintiffs in Liapes v. Facebook, which challenges Facebook’s design and operation of an advertising platform that allegedly lets companies treat users disparately based on their protected characteristics, in violation of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act.

Credentials

  • B.A., Sewanee: University of the South
  • J.D., Georgetown University Law Center
  • Clerked for the Honorable James P. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia
  • Admitted to practice law in Colorado and the District of Columbia

My Story

I’ve always wanted to fight for meaningful causes and have a career where I could bring about positive change for as many people as possible.

Much like my clients today, I’ve witnessed unlawful practices in the workplace and at times, felt that I lacked the power to address it.  In one instance, I had a lawyer in my corner. I was impressed by the level of clarity that they brought to their work, and their determination to make things better for my me and my colleagues. This inspired me to go to law school, so that I too could be a tireless advocate for others, helping them to protect their interests and realize their power.

I consider myself lucky to be an employment lawyer at Outten & Golden, where I focus exclusively on employees’ interests.
