California, Illinois, Iowa, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin all have state versions of the WARN Act that cover some employees who are not protected by the federal WARN Act. Some of these states and New Jersey also offer stronger protection to employees, such as longer notice periods or higher damages.
