Outten & Golden’s Successes in High-Stakes Litigation

Outten & Golden Press Release—Laurence Moy & Tammy Marzigliano

With its latest victory, the law firm of Outten & Golden LLP has built an impressive track record of forcing prominent banks to pay substantial awards in high-stakes litigation cases.

In just the last two multiple-employee arbitration cases handled by O&G, the firm recovered about $100 million for its clients. Both cases are among the highest awards achieved in employment-related arbitrations.

The O&G team in the most recent multiple-employee case was led by Laurence Moy, with Wayne Outten and Tammy Marzigliano, achieving an award in excess of $71 million for 20 employees. Mr. Outten and Mr. Moy also led the successful trial team in the previous arbitration case, in which financial services giant Deutsche Bank was ordered to pay more than $19 million in damages, interest, fees, and expenses to two former employees.

These two awards illustrate the success that O&G has achieved in high-stakes cases. Other cases include O&G’s recovery in 2004 of more than $12 million for its client in a gender discrimination and retaliation case commenced by Allison Schieffelin and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against Morgan Stanley – with the entire settlement totaling $54 million; the litigation team, led by Wayne Outten, represented Ms. Schieffelin. In 2010, Mr. Moy led an O&G team to a victory on behalf of a claimant against BNP Paribas, winning an arbitration award expunging damaging language from the employee’s Form U-5 securities filing and granting more than $900,000 in damages plus interest. Also in 2010, Mr. Moy and his colleagues won $715,000 plus interest for their client in a FINRA arbitration case against Barclays.

In addition, O&G has handled and is handling numerous discrimination class actions against financial services companies and other companies.
