U.S. legal directory based on survey of general counsel and law firm peers
New York, New York (May 29, 2007) – Outten & Golden LLP has been selected by Legal 500, a UK-based legal rankings publication, for its work in Labor and Employment Class Actions. This year marks the first year the publication is ranking leading U.S. attorneys.
Adam Klein, the co-chair of the firm’s class action practice group, was singled out for his efforts in prosecuting class-based employment discrimination and wage-hour litigation. “We appreciate the recognition that all of our attorneys and our practice groups have received from independent sources such as Legal 500,” says Wayne Outten, Outten & Golden’s Managing Partner. “Several of our attorneys have been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in New York, Law Dragon, and other respected legal-ranking services.”
Commenting on O&G’s class action practice, Legal 500 focused on one of the firm’s recent highlights: “In 2006, lawyers secured a $65m settlement in their role as co-lead counsel to a class of about 32,000 IBM information technology employees, who had filed a suit against their employer alleging that they had been unlawfully exempted from overtime.” Legal 500 also observed that “[t]he firm . . . continues to have a prolific docket of overtime cases . . . [including] a number of such claims on behalf of call center employees of HSBC, JPMorgan Chase and ClientLogic, among others.”
This year marks the first year Legal 500 is ranking U.S. attorneys. For more than 18 years the guide has published editions for the UK, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific markets. Rankings are derived from staff surveys of general counsel, as well as public company filings and commentary from law firm peers on areas of interest to potential clients including quality of service, responsiveness to needs and value delivered.
