Darnley D. Stewart, who has been at the forefront of plaintiff employment litigation for more than 15 years and is a former president of NELA/New York, is now a partner in the New York office of Outten & Golden LLP.

With substantial experience and expertise in litigating a broad array of employment cases, Ms. Stewart also counsels employees and negotiates claims and disputes and employment and separation agreements. She is co-chair of the firm’s Discrimination & Retaliation Practice Group and of its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer (LGBTQ) Workplace Rights Practice Group.

Ms. Stewart was named Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” in 2013 for Employment Law – Individuals.
Ms. Stewart graduated from Princeton University and received her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to entering private practice, she served as Law Clerk to the Hon. R. Ammi Cutter and the Hon. Mel. L. Greenberg of the Massachusetts Court of Appeals.
She is admitted to practice in New York, before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Western District of Michigan, and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, and Sixth Circuits.
Ms. Stewart lectures regularly on employment issues and has frequently commented in the media, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, National Public Radio and the NBC Today show, regarding employment discrimination cases.
Ms. Stewart is a member of the Executive Board of Workplace Fairness and is former President of the Executive Board of the NELA/New York. She also sits on the Advisory Boards of the Bronx Academy of Letters and NYU’s Center for Labor and Employment Law.
