Piper Hoffman
PIPER HOFFMAN is a partner at Outten & Golden LLP. She represents employees in discrimination and wage-and-hour class actions and in appellate litigation. Before law school, Ms. Hoffman worked as a reporter and as an advocate for the homeless. She has fought to preserve reproductive rights both as an organizer and as a lawyer. Before establishing herself as an employee advocate, Ms. Hoffman worked at the Animal Legal Defense Fund, litigating to protect animals. Ms. Hoffman has litigated class, multi-plaintiff, and individual cases. Ms. Hoffman has represented employees with discrimination and other claims against virtually every major Wall Street firm, including representing Allison Schieffelin in her gender discrimination case against Morgan Stanley.* Ms. Hoffman is admitted to the New York, Massachusetts and District of Columbia bars and the federal courts of New York, the District of Columbia, and the Ninth and Tenth Circuits. She is Co-Chair of the National Employment Lawyers Association Class Action Committee; Co-Chair of the American Bar Association Employment Rights and Responsibilities Class Action Subcommittee; and a member of the New York City Bar Association. She has performed pro bono work for the United States District Court for the District of Columbia Civil Pro Bono Panel, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York Mediation Office, and the New York District Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Ms. Hoffman taught legal writing and argument as a student at Harvard Law School. She has delivered talks and authored or co-authored articles on a variety of employment law topics. Ms. Hoffman served as a judicial clerk for Judge Gladys Kessler on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She joined Outten & Golden LLP in February of 2002. Ms. Hoffman received her B.A., magna cum laude and with honors in political science, from Brown University in 1994 and her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1999. *Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. |
