Paralegal - New York Office

The individual will report to the Paralegal Manager. The work shift is from 9:30am - 5:30 pm with flexibility for overtime.

Job Duties

  • Interviewing class action plaintiffs both in person and by telephone and drafting plaintiff declarations;
  • Completing intake forms for prospective clients;
  • Drafting and editing letters and basic legal documents;
  • Conducting legal and internet research on various subjects, companies, and people using CourtLink, PACER, and Lexis Nexis;
  • Creating and managing databases and spreadsheets tracking clients and documents;
  • Organizing documents for discovery, motions, trials, and pre-trial planning;
  • Creating, compiling, and organizing exhibits for depositions, hearings, and trials;
  • Filing legal documents in court and electronically;
  • Calendaring deadlines as they pertain to litigation;
  • Scheduling court reporters for depositions;
  • Creating, organizing, and maintaining case files and witness files;
  • Copying, scanning and filing paper documents;
  • Managing document production and review using CaseVault; and
  • Managing cases from inception to conclusion.

Job Requirements

  • Commitment to protecting civil and workers’ rights;
  • Fluent in Spanish language (written not required but preferred);
  • Experience with conducting interviews, a plus;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Great attention to detail;
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • A pleasant and professional telephone manner;
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Ability to work independently while understanding the importance of teamwork;
  • Ability to manage a workload consisting of multiple tasks;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet search tools;
  • Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn new litigation support software; and
  • Willingness to work overtime.

Spring Law Clerk

Outten & Golden LLP (“O&G”) seeks part-time Law Clerks for the spring semester of 2010.

O&G, located in midtown Manhattan, is a preeminent law firm representing individual employees in employment, partnership, and related matters. The firm advises individuals on employment agreements, compensation arrangements, and severance plans and represents employees with a wide variety of claims, including claims of individual and class-wide discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, disability, religion, or age, as well as retaliation, whistleblower, and contract claims. Associate

Requirements: Must have 1-3 years' of litigation experience, preferably in employment law, or judicial clerkship; strong writing and research skills; commitment to protecting employee rights. Contract Attorney

Outten & Golden LLP, a plaintiff-side employment law firm in midtown Manhattan, has openings for several part-time contract attorneys to write briefs, interview witnesses, draft declarations, review documents, and perform other litigation tasks as part of a busy wage-and-hour practice. Although some of the work can be done remotely, occasional in-person meetings will be necessary, especially at the outset; office space will be available on premises. These are temporary positions but could lead to additional engagements.

Firm Description
