Part-Time Paralegal Position

The individual will report to the Paralegal Manager. The work shifts available are daytime and evenings; 15-19 hours per week.

Job Requirements

The applicant must have strong written and oral communication skills, a pleasant and professional telephone manner, strong analytical and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, Adobe and Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., formulas and sorting).

Job Description

Job duties include conducting telephone interviews with potential class participants, drafting notes, statements, and memoranda, editing and proofreading letters and legal documents, conducting basic legal and internet research on various subjects, companies, and people, filing legal documents in court, organizing and maintaining case files, and performing general administrative functions such as copying, scanning, faxing, and data entry.

Litigation Paralegal - Connecticut Office

The individual will report to the Paralegal Manager and Administrative Attorney. The work shift is from 9am – 5pm with flexibility for overtime.

Job Description
  • Fielding calls from prospective clients and completing client intake forms;
  • Creating, organizing, and maintaining case files;
  • Creating and managing databases and spreadsheets tracking clients and documents;
  • Organizing documents for motions, trials, and pre-trial planning;
  • Drafting and editing letters and legal documents;
  • Creating, compiling, and organizing exhibits for depositions, hearings, and trials;
  • Conducting legal and internet research on various subjects, companies, and people using CourtLink, PACER, and Lexis Nexis;
  • Filing legal documents in court and electronically;
  • Maintaining court dockets;
  • Calendaring all deadlines as they pertain to litigation or state, federal and administrative agencies
  • Management of document production and review using Summation iBlaze
  • Investigating and managing cases from inception to conclusion;
  • Assisting with committee related assignments and tasks;
  • Managing library subscriptions; and
  • Filing, scanning, typing, telephone support and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • 2-3 years experience as a litigation paralegal;
  • Self starter;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Great attention to detail;
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • A pleasant and professional telephone manner
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills;
  • Ability to work independently while understanding the importance of teamwork;
  • Ability to manage a workload consisting of multiple tasks;
  • Proficiency in Summation iBlaze, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet search tools;
  • Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn new litigation support software;
  • Experience with CourtLink, PACER, Lexis Nexis, and electronic filing;
  • Ability to work occasional overtime; and
  • Commitment to protecting civil rights
